Mindful Communication (One Day Training)


What employees really want is to be seen and heard. When the pace is so fast and there is tremendous pressure to deliver and provide results we don’t always take the time that we should in communicating with our direct reports and colleagues. This workshop is about making all the difference by focusing on mindful listening and speaking.

This 8 hour mindful communication training programme is a focused, dynamic, and highly practical workshop for managers.

Apply mindfulness listening and speaking to our interactions in order to:

  • Be more focused when we communicate;
  • Connect and collaborate mindfully with peers and teams;
  • Learn more about the impact we have on others.

Target Audience

This workshop is run within organisations to give middle and C-level executives a leading edge through applying mindfulness listening and speaking.

Learning Objectives

The programme is centered on understanding more about mindful communication – why and how. There are many exercises that are done in pairs and small groups to practice these new competencies and develop awareness while listening and speaking.

Part 1 – Introduction

Introducing Mindful Communication.

  • What is mindfulness?
  • Difference between regular listening and speaking and doing so mindfully.
  • Introducing Formal Practice - Mindfulness Meditation.
  • Introducing Mindfulness without Meditation - Informal Mindfulness Practices that can be used in the workplace.

Part 2 – Mindful Attitudes

This module is centered on Mindfulness Attitudes and how they can assist us in communicating with others.

  • Understanding perception and subjectivity.
  • Present moment awareness.
  • Developing mindful attitude of beginners mind and opening up to new experiences.
  • The non-judgmental listener.
  • Informal Mindfulness Practices for listening and speaking.
  • Practice.

Part 3 – Reflection and Feedback

This module is centered on developing these competencies.

  • Why reflect?
  • How to reflect?
  • What is encouragement and why is it needed.
  • Practice.

Part 4 - Insight

This module is a wrap up and to define small steps to integrating mindful communication into everyday conversations.

  • Summary of learning.
  • How to implement Informal Mindfulness Communication Practices @work.
  • Defining my map to communicating more mindfully.
